At the Division of Veterans Services (IDVS), our mission of caring for America's heroes is simply stated because every resource is directed to that cause.

This opening is a field position for a full-time Community Resource Development Specialist located in the southeast region. The incumbent must be located in the southeast region (Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, Pocatello) of Idaho for consideration. Moving expenses are not being offered for this position.

The primary purpose of this position is to focus on outreach to improve awareness of our veteran services and if necessary, expand them. The position will help coordinate services to veterans that may otherwise be limited due to financial or other obstacles. This position will also coordinate many activities and events for Veterans throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

COMMUNITY OUTREACH 

  • Identify resources for Idaho's Veterans including disability benefits, caregiver support, supportive housing, financial help, mental health resources, transportation assistance, etc.
  • Education efforts regarding the resources available via social media, speaking engagements and training classes.
  • Maintain and manage email list of over 75 organizations and 600 individuals to coordinate mutual needs. 
  • Field individual requests from Veterans and/or Service Organizations and direct them to the appropriate resource. 
  • Host a monthly meeting for Joining Forces (either in person or virtually) – identify speakers, community needs, and coordinate venue (usually between 30-70 attendees.)
  • Advise Veteran Service Organizations on best practices for their targeted population.
  • Maintain a database of identified assistance resources (Education, Employment, Financial, Housing, Legal, Mental Health, Transportation, etc.) 
  • Support Veteran Suicide Prevention outreach of service organizations and coordination. 
  • Organize Community Events recognizing Idaho Veterans.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL MEDIA 
  • Research, post and update pertinent information and post on IDVS social media.
  • Monitor social media responses and answer inquiries.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate strategic media and public relations campaigns in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Plan and develop communications outreach plans to promote service and support of veterans.
  • Issue statements, prepare and disseminate news releases and craft announcements on routine matters that reflect the official position of IDVS.
  • Plan, develop, and execute media and social media plan to publicize the veterans outreach program. 
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 
  • Identifying, organizing, or coordinating community resources or services
  • Making oral presentations 

Clearance:

The Idaho Division of Veterans Services requires applicants to pass a criminal history background investigation after a conditional offer of employment.
