The mission of the Idaho Industrial Commission is to fairly administer the Idaho Workers' Compensation Law.

The position is in the Boise Office on the Chinden Campus, 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. 

The Idaho Industrial Commission is seeking a highly skilled individual with knowledge of insurance, legal and medical terminology relating to workers' compensation or other medical claims to serve as a Workers' Compensation Benefit Analyst.  

Example of Duties:

  • Discusses claims and answers inquiries from in-state constituents and explains the requirements of applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Provides forms and related workers' compensation materials to requesting parties
  • Contacts workers, employers, sureties, and attorneys to obtain and distribute information, offer claim adjusting suggestions, resolve differences, and advise injured workers and other parties of their rights.
  • Reviews and analyzes settlement agreements, related to medical records, and attorney fee documentation and makes recommendations to the Commissioners regarding approval.
  • Calculates benefit rates and payments and ensures benefits are paid appropriately.
  • Makes informal oral or written inquiries with sureties, attorneys, or employers on operating procedures and reviews files for compliance with Idaho Statutes and Rules.

Minimum Qualifications

At least a year of experience: 

  •  Knowledge of insurance, legal, and medical terminology relating to workers’ compensation or other medical claims
  •  Experience in problem solving and dispute resolution
  • Experience in resolving conflicts and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies
  • Experience in positions that require accuracy, attention to detail and good time management skills
  • Experience conducting group training

Desirable

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience in related field 
  • Good working knowledge of Idaho Workers’ Compensation Laws (certification as an Idaho Workers’ Compensation Specialist preferred) 
  • Some mediation experience 
  • Some experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues 
  • Computer literacy (experience with MS Office preferred) 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
