Description

DEDICATED TO STRENGTHENING THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND INDEPENDENCE OF IDAHOANS

***THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE OPEN UNTIL FILLED. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO BE CONSIDERED.

Do you want to make a positive impact on the lives of Idaho's children and families? Do you have personal or professional experience within or in support of programs serving youth and families and/or the child welfare system? If this sounds like a good fit to you, we are seeking applicants to help our new Family Find-Placement team as Placement Specialists located at our Twin Falls field office. The family find-placement team plays a pivotal role in assisting regions by identifying viable kin or fictive kin for children in foster care. They piece together children's backgrounds, including extended family and friends, and efficiently gather relevant names and contact information. These positions engage directly with identified kin to assess their interest in becoming caregivers or supporting youth in foster care, ensuring this vital information is conveyed back to the case management teams. The family find-placement team also assists field workers by calling foster parents when children need a placement. They provide critical information about the needs of children in foster care to prospective foster placements to determine if the home is a good fit for the children’s needs.

IMPORTANT: Incumbents will be required to participate in the Child Welfare Academy in order to learn Idaho child welfare practices and standards and complete Child Welfare Academy assignments. During the probationary period, incumbents carry a reduced child welfare caseload under the guidance of child welfare supervisors or designated experienced child welfare social workers to gain knowledge and expertise necessary to provide professional child welfare services to children and families who are subjects of child abuse or neglect. *Some travel will be required.

This position may be eligible for telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.
