This position will have a start date of June 9, 2025.

Information Technology Services (ITS) currently has an opening for a Project Manager II position in our Chinden office in Boise. This position will plan, implement, and manage complex statewide large-scale projects which require a high level of skills, experience, and responsibility.

This role requires managing a large team of engineers and supervising multiple teams across multiple projects. This role has a high level of authority and decision-making power, such as setting project goals, allocating resources, and managing project risks.

As a Project Manager 2 you will utilize project management principles to help work teams facilitate, create, and track the design and redesign of business processes; define data models; design how the different services, process, events, and data will work together; define the technologies that will be used such as applications, components, tool sets, etc.; and, define how the system will be maintained after the project has ended.

Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.

 

Example of Duties

• Develop, manage, and implement projects through research, collaboration and communication.
• Supervise a team of professionals, providing support, managing workload, and evaluating performance of team members.
• Design systems/programs by working closely and effectively with diverse groups that may include local, state, federal and private organizations.
• Develop project objective, scope, strategy, schedule, and roles.
• Identify needed resources for the project, including but not limited to funding, contracts, SMEs, technology, and equipment.
• Develop and upkeep detailed project plans, implementation plans, work plans, and timelines.
• Establish plans for project evaluation and monitoring.
• Develop processes to communicate project performance to sponsors and other stakeholders.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

• Planning and implementing projects including coordinating the development of project scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes.

Typically requires one year of experience managing projects with at least one year in a leadership role. Your experience must have included being responsible for the development (needs assessment, planning, and budgeting) of the projects as well as being responsible for assessing the projects toward goals and project outcomes.

• Interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public.

Typically requires at least one year of experience involving the interpretation of laws, policies, procedures, rules, or similar levels of information where the information was analyzed and communicated into information that was usable by the public or the project team in various formats (oral, written, graphic, WEB based, etc.)

• Developing and monitoring contracts.

Typically requires one year of experience which included consultant selection, development of the scope of work and man-hour negotiation; developing and managing schedule. This experience should also include reviewing progress payments; enforcing contract compliance for scope, budget, and milestone completion; and consultant evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading teams and supervising team members. Typically gained by at least one year of supervising staff.
• Good knowledge of project management skills and practices. Typically gained by at least two years of professional experience as a project manager and a current certification as a Project Management Professional.
• Good knowledge of working on projects that involve coordination between multiple stakeholders. Typically gained by at least two years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining a professional project that impacted multiple stakeholders such as multiple public service agencies, community groups, and the general public.
