The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a IT Software Engineer II to join our team located in ITD Headquarters Boise, ID.

This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications using Python and the Microsoft .NET framework. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who is passionate about technology and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. The position is an in-person position working at the ITD headquarters in Boise Idaho.

Please note: After a conditional job offer, a criminal background investigation (including fingerprints) on the selected individual will be required. 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Design, develop, and deploy software solutions using Python and Microsoft .NET to meet business requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Implement testing and debugging procedures to ensure software quality and reliability
  • Maintain and enhance existing applications by resolving technical issues and implementing enhancements
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to improve development efficiency and effectiveness
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure coding standards and best practices are followed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Good knowledge of:

  • Software architecture, development, and testing practices
  • Programming languages, software development tool suites and managing source code

Experience:

  • Creating, interpreting, and documenting user requirements
  • Coding new systems and making code changes to existing production systems Testing and deploying production systems

MQ Specialties:

  • Experience developing and maintaining a website.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and strong skills with ETL and data transformations using tools such as FME or Actian
  • Experience working with databases and database queries
  • Experience working with APIs as data sources and destinations
  • Experience developing with Visual Studio preferably using C#
  • Experience using Azure DevOps
  • Experience using PowerPlatform tools such as Power BI
  • Experience working with Blazor
