The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a IT Software Engineer IV to join our team located in ITD Headquarters Boise, ID.

This position is a lead role within the DevOps group and will collaborate with other Software Engineer IV's from other DevOps teams. Together they will provide leadership to develop highly sophisticated technology plans that require the integration of multiple technologies, and the interrelationships of multiple systems serving diverse customers.

This role will raise the bar of technical knowledge that exists within IT, developing standards, data architecture, software architecture, development, and testing practices.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established ETS standards
  • Lead by example using highly developed technical plans for development and execution
  • Integrate multiple technologies into ETS processes, procedures, and standards for development
  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship
  • Continuous improvement through strong leadership in the mentoring and coaching of team members in all aspects of DevOps, Agile and Azure methods, and tools
  • Close involvement in the activities of all team members to provide the necessary mentoring and coaching opportunities that may arise
  • Assist the product owner/Scrum master in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans
  • As the technical lead of the DevOps team, work closely with the product owner/scrum master daily to create and keep all documentation up to date
  • Continual leadership in the development of user stories, sprint planning, time estimates, and work plans
  • Provide the technical leadership in the grooming and prioritization of sprint backlog
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code
  • Careful attention to scrums and sprint reviews to ensure the rigorous standards are being met
  • Ensure that the integration of multiple technologies and procedures are being utilized in all solutions where it benefits the business
  • Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members
  • Work closely with ETS teams to ensure that the best accepted solutions and procedures are being integrated into the ETS DevOps environment
  • Work with the DevOps teams to train, mentor and provide technical guidance for all new technologies and processes under development and implementation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Some Knowledge of:

  • Budget practices (cost/benefit analysis)

Good Knowledge of:

  • Management practices Current trends in information technology Computer hardware and software capabilities and limitations

Experience:

  • Supervising and training a technical IT staff in delivering services to end users Installing and maintaining multiple operating systems and system software which includes multiple technologies and platforms and resolution of conflicting goals with various users Identifying and resolving complex system-related problems dealing with end users and vendors and translating them into workable solutions in a business environment AND making recommendations based on established standards

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on .NET technologies
  • Extensive experience with ASP.NET MVC, including design patterns, RESTful services, and API development
  • Proficient in developing applications using Blazor, including both Blazor Server and Blazor WebAssembly
  • Knowledge of SQL Server or other relational database systems
  • Familiarity with Entity Framework or other ORM technologies for database handling
  • Understanding of cloud services (preferably Azure) and DevOps practices
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., Angular or React)
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies, specifically Docker, including building, deploying, and managing containers.
