Description

Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to work out of the Salmon, Idaho, office.

CLASS PURPOSE

Perform professional nursing duties, including client assessments, plan development, health education, clinical activities, and providing direct nursing care. Perform related tasks as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Idaho, as defined by Idaho Code.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Provide skilled nursing services in clinical settings, requiring independent clinical judgment. Patients or families may have varying socioeconomic, cultural, emotional, or physical needs and may be confused, disoriented, aggressive, or hostile. Some environments may involve exposure to communicable diseases and lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage in positive problem-solving and conflict resolution. If issues cannot be resolved, refer dissatisfied clients to a supervisor. Direct communication with the individual(s) involved often helps resolve misunderstandings.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and agency program guidelines.

DUTIES

The following are the key responsibilities of the role. Staff may be assigned additional or different tasks as needed. Employees are expected to be receptive to new assignments, keep supervisors informed if tasks cannot be completed, or if clarification is needed.

  • Plan, organize, and conduct clinics both in-office and off-site within the community, collaborating with other programs when necessary.
  • Develop and perform community assessments, outreach activities, and presentations related to EIPH program services and educational topics.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits as assigned.
  • Conduct and reconcile inventory in accordance with policy.
  • Complete program-specific reports as required by policy.
  • Complete required training assignments.
  • Monitor and maintain program-specific supplies and equipment and ensure proper ordering per policy.
  • Complete monthly satisfaction surveys.
  • Maintain a clean and organized personal work area.
  • Attend and actively participate in program-related and other meetings as assigned. Avoid side conversations during meetings. If absent, review meeting minutes within five business days.
  • Use language services or an interpreter when needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Eastern Idaho Public Health employees have an “Emergency Response Role” and may be asked to respond to public health emergencies as outlined in the District’s Public Health Preparedness Plan. This may include working longer shifts, nights, or weekends or performing duties outside of their regular responsibilities. Employees will not be asked, expected, or permitted to perform tasks they are not trained or qualified for.

SPECIALTY AREAS

Some positions may require experience in:

  • Delivering oral presentations to groups.
  • Providing senior-level nursing services in public health, home health, hospital, or institutional settings.
