Located along the historic Oregon Trail in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, Three Island Crossing State Park offers a blend of rich history and outdoor adventure. The park provides modern amenities, camping facilities, and an interpretive center that brings the pioneer experience to life. As a Park Ranger, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the park’s natural beauty, preserving historical resources, and creating a welcoming environment for visitors. Whether it’s patrolling the grounds, leading educational programs, or assisting with park operations, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to conservation, history, and recreation.
In this role, you will provide information to visitors about the park’s history, wildlife, and recreational opportunities while ensuring compliance with park rules and regulations. You will have the opportunity to develop interpretive programs, guide tours at the Oregon Trail History and Education Center, and educate visitors about the challenges faced by pioneers crossing the Snake River. Additionally, you will assist with park operations by collecting fees, supporting special events, and working with local agencies to promote public safety and protect park resources. Administrative duties will include hiring, training, and supervising seasonal staff and volunteers, maintaining park records and reports, and collaborating with partner organizations and community groups.
Park maintenance will also be a key aspect of this position, as you will be responsible for keeping facilities, trails, and recreation areas in top condition. This includes maintaining campgrounds, picnic areas, and cabins, as well as performing basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and grounds maintenance. You will also operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, hand tools, and small machinery. Ensuring visitor safety is a priority, requiring regular monitoring of park conditions and addressing potential hazards.
