Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is currently recruiting for a Pharmacy Data Inventory Specialist at State Hospital South in Blackfoot. Applicants must be registered with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy/Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses as a Pharmacy Technician. It is preferred that the applicants also have a Pharmacy technician certification through an approved certification board. State Hospital South was established in 1886 and is in beautiful Southeast Idaho, an area best known for Oregon Trail and Native American history, amazing fly fishing, towering mountain peaks with abundant wildlife and awe-inspiring geological sites. State Hospital South in Blackfoot provides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. State Hospital South includes 110 psychiatric adult beds and 42 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients. 

Incumbents may be required to lift and carry 30 pounds. Work is performed under the direct supervision of an Idaho licensed pharmacist and in accordance with Idaho Pharmacy Regulations.

This position is not eligible for telework.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Preparation of medication orders under the direct supervision of an Idaho Licensed Pharmacist
• Maintains files of patient charts and orders, records information, and manages medication profiles of patients.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and systems to include procurement, proper storage, dispensing, disposal and returns for credit.
• Researches and purchases the best product in terms of company, price and availability.
• Ensures drug codes and billing prices are current.
• Provides direction, training, and technical assistance to pharmacy technicians in coding, entering orders, and posting data to maintain inventory records.
• Monitors inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals
• Verifies accuracy of medication shipments and resolves vendor-related problems.
• Enters and modifies pharmaceutical data on system and forms.
• Compiles, calculates, and submits patient drug-use billings to Insurance under Medicare Part-D

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. • Eligible for registration with the Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. 
• Good knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terms and abbreviations. Typically gained by at least one year experience in a pharmaceutical setting as a pharmacy assistant or equivalent OR completion of a formal pharmacy technician school or similar formal training that would have provided this knowledge.
• Good knowledge of the control and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Typically gained by at least one year experience working with the control and distribution of pharmaceuticals OR completion of pharmacy technician school. 
  
• Some knowledge of pharmacy inventory control methods and procedures. Typically gained by completion of a pharmacy inventory control course such as in pharmacy technician school OR at least one year experience performing inventory control work in a pharmacy.
  
• Some knowledge of the metric system of weights and measures. Typically gained by completing a class in high school or pharmacy education, which provided knowledge to be familiar with system of weights and measures. 
  
• Experience entering and retrieving data on a computer. Typically gained by at least one year in a work environment. 
  
• Experience applying and explaining policies. Typically gained by at least one year in a work environment. 
• Experience composing written statements and proofreading correspondence. Typically gained by at least one year in a work environment. 
• Skill in typing/keyboarding at a minimum of 45 words per minute.
• Eligible for registration with the Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician in accordance with Idaho Code 54-1701.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

• Current Pharmacy technician certification through an approved board. Typically gained by a current Certified Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses
• Experience billing for Medicare Part-D medications. Typically gained by prior experience billing medications to insurance under Part-D
• 5 Years experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Typically gained by working as a Registered Pharmacy Technician under for a period of 5 years.
