Financial Technician

Position Overview:

The Financial Technician will perform a range of financial responsibilities, which encompass Accounts Receivable, P-Card transactions, and General Ledger (GL) entries by ensuring accurate, transparent, and compliant financial operation, this position plays a vital role in maintaining the agency’s financial integrity. Furthermore, the individual will contribute to training, development of policies, and procedures aimed at enhancing the accounting department, fostering agency knowledge, and providing support to the Financial Technician Sr. and Administrative Services Manager.

This role necessitates a high level of efficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to both agency and State regulations. An ideal candidate will maintain the ability to quickly grasp new concepts, take direction, collaborate with team members, ask questions, and solve problems effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately receive and process Accounts Receivable, P-Card transactions, and General Ledger (GL) entries within the state’s Luma system, ensuring full compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Monthly manual allocation of the cost of purchased visual aids and appliances (A&A) from our low vision store to their respective program.
  • Interpret, enforce, and apply fiscal policies and procedures, and resolve financial disputes effectively and diplomatically
  • Develop and refine fiscal policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the Luma system, serving as an internal resource for Luma-related inquiries and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the State Controller’s Office, Office of Information Technology Services, and other state agencies or vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
  • Maintain an orderly and accurate database of electronic financial documents, journals and records ensuring a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to inquiries from auditors, addressing findings and providing necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Identify, investigate, and correct errors or discrepancies in financial data, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all records.
  • Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and offering guidance on financial matters.
  • Perform additional financial support tasks as assigned to ensure smooth departmental operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Good Knowledge of:

  • Financial Record Keeping

Experience:

  • Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports
  • Using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data

MQ Specialties:

  • Using Microsoft Office suite, including MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using the State of Idaho LUMA system for financial processes
  • Experience providing excellent customer service to clients, vendors and colleagues
