PTV STREAMING PRODUCTION SPECIALIST

Temporary – Non Benefited 

Part-time up to 19.5 hours weekly position

Idaho Public Television (PTV) has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Streaming Production Specialist to perform and monitor live stream sessions and meetings of the Idaho State Legislature (during and outside of the annual Legislative Session schedules) and the Idaho Supreme Court.

Idaho Public Television is a PBS member station and Idaho's only locally owned and operated statewide broadcast network. We are a state agency under the Idaho State Board of Education. Our nonprofit arm, The Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc., provides private support for our content production and educational efforts and allows us to produce award-winning long form documentaries, quality public affairs journalism, podcasts, educational digital lesson plans, and community events. This position is funded by Idaho Public Television, and reports to the Production Department, is part-time, less than 20 hours/week, non-benefitted, and long-term. Schedule will be determined at time of offer. This is an in person position and flexibility may be available after initial orientation and training period. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

This job is based at the Idaho State Capitol Building. On the Job Training Will Be Provided. We Tell Idaho's Stories! If you are interested in broadcasting, are good with computers or have a desire to learn more about the workings of the Idaho government, this might be a perfect entry level job for you! Scheduling is flexible up to 19.5 hours per week. 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES 

  • Confirms proper operational functioning of equipment and systems before, during and after all live and recorded broadcasts at the State Capitol remote studio.

  • Recording, archiving and uploading audio and video of all meetings during Idaho legislative meetings/sessions, Supreme Court sessions and other special events as assigned.

  • Monitor incoming and outgoing broadcast signals from the State Capitol and make corrections when necessary to ensure proper broadcast quality is always achieved.

  • Make critical adjustments required to ensure continued content delivery via live streaming.

  • Perform network services as needed.

  • Maintain files; archive media files and recordings.

  • Test and monitor multiple computers and video streams and be proactive in preventing problems. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Comfortable learning and adapting to new technology.

  • Attention to detail and remaining calm under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge of satellite and internet feeds into non-linear editing systems.

  • Experience using remote cameras and control units.

  • Experience with file servers.

  • Experience using graphics software such as Photoshop.

  • Experience with file transcoding and encoding techniques.
