Description

Idaho State Police is recruiting to fill a Technical Records Specialist 2 POST Regional Assistant position in our Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) location in Meridian. 

PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation and polygraph examination, which includes drug screening. Please review the ISP Drug Policy, Grooming & Appearance Standards.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: 

  • Provide administrative support to five (5) POST regional coordinators across the state
  • Answer question from 8000 law enforcement officers regarding instructor status and training
  • Manage statewide in-service training calendar
  • Advise agencies on billing questions and resolve billing issues.
  • Create, track and reconcile registration invoices through financial program software
  • Ensure every instructor meets all renewal criteria per IDAPA Rule and POST procedures
  • Monitor instruction provided by General Topics Instructors for compliance per IDAPA Rule and POST Procedure
  • Problem solve and correct officer records when needed
  • Perform complex and difficult program support functions for multiple or highly specialized programs
  • Have the authority, knowledge, and judgment to devise solutions that fall outside existing policies and procedures
  • Problem solving and negotiation skills with authority to act on decisions made
  • Serve as a program expert and provide guidance and assistance regarding complex program rules and regulations to office staff and external customers
  • Frequent contact with internal and external customers, which requires good public relation skills
  • Function with considerable independence and exercise discretion in applying policies and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of department programs and objectives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

  • Monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors;
  • Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs;
  • Analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues;
  • Dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations;
  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system;
  • Composing and proofreading business correspondence.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1-2 Years of Customer service;
  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft and Adobe software to efficiently complete complex tasks and produce deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to Work in an environment with multiple conflicting demands and frequent interruptions;
  • Effective communication skills and experience dealing tactfully with co-workers and diverse external customers, some of whom may be irate or under stress;
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines;
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others;
  • History of maintaining a predictable and reliable level of attendance.
