The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a temporary, non-benefited, Shopkeeper for our District 4 Shop, located in Shoshone, Idaho. The successful candidate would play an essential role, working directly with our shop staff. This opportunity provides practical real-world experience and exposure to a variety of shop and mechanical tasks.

This position requires driving an ITD vehicle. A valid driver’s license is required and a driving record review is required.

 Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Collecting and transporting shop parts and supplies;
• Loading, unloading, and organizing shop equipment;
• Cleaning and general maintenance of shop;
• May perform routine maintenance procedures including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid flushes, etc.;
• May perform multi-point vehicle inspections;
• Following and promoting our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization;
• Working together with other technicians you will solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver great results.

 Qualifications:

• A strong motivation to learn a mechanical service career path
• Shows a high level of interest, willingness to learn, and embraces new ideas
• Good communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated and exemplifies a positive attitude
• A valid driver’s license

 Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds
• Be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above their head
• Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair
• Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand-tools
• Walk/stand for the majority of the workday
• Drive manual transmission vehicles
