The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare's (IDHW) Division of Management Services (DMS) has an exciting opportunity for a proactive Office Services Supervisor to lead a fingerprint technician team from Coeur d'Alene. This position will play a critical role in protecting vulnerable adult and children populations in Idaho as a first line supervisor of fingerprint technicians for the Background Check Unit (BCU). This leader will be ensuring timeliness of criminal history background check processing, setting goals and expectations for their team members in support of IDHW missions, values, and goals, and engaging with positive relationships between BCU and its stakeholders. We are searching for individuals with exemplary leadership skills, a tenacity to problem-solve, willingness to communicate early and often with team members, eagerness to step in and complete day-to-day, front line tasks, and promote data-drive decision making. 

This position is not eligible for telework.

 Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Hire, train, evaluate, and motivate staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, oversee, and participate in day-to-day operations.
  • Set and enforce daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
  • Manage lobby traffic and flow for select office locations.
  • Approve time sheets and manage tardiness and absences of staff.
  • Establish and manage customer service expectations.
  • Perform a wide variety of office administration support functions.
  • Substitute for fingerprint technicians and their tasks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum and specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Good knowledge of office support functions. Typically gained by at least one year of experience in an office environment performing a wide variety of office support functions as the predominant responsibility of the job, (answering telephones, using knowledge of computer software, filing systems and general office equipment). OR completion of two semesters of Office Procedures coursework AND six months of office support experience.

  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices. Typically gained through completion of a class or seminar (of more than 1 day) specifically covering supervisory practices; OR completion of a college course covering supervisory practices; OR lead work experience that involved work assignment, direction, and monitoring of staff (such experience on a fill-in basis is non-qualifying unless for a minimum of 3 months).

  • Experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services. Typically gained by at least one year of work experience interpreting and explaining complex information such as policies, procedures, regulations, or laws. I also had responsibility for explaining discrepancies or explaining to others how the information applied to their specific situations.

  • Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities to deal with individuals or resolve conflicts in a work setting. Typically gained by at least one year of experience requiring problem-solving skills in dealing with individuals to resolve conflicts in a work setting. Supervisors, lead workers, team facilitators, and product service representatives or high-level customer service are examples of background that may qualify.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Experience supervising teams. Typically gained by at least one year of experience or equivalent education in monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the work of others.
