The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual to impact water management and promote public safety. This position, located at IDWR’s Western Regional Office in Boise, is open to engineers who have obtained their Professional Engineer credential as well as interns who are working towards licensure.

The engineer in this position can look forward to a variety of career-expanding opportunities in natural resource management. IDWR’s Western Regional office in Boise implements IDWR programs and works with water users across southwest Idaho, from the urbanizing Treasure Valley to remote mountain and range lands. The successful candidate will support IDWR’s Safety of Dams program, the Water Rights program, and other water resource administration programs, generating engineering knowledge and experience in the diverse environment that Western Region serves. A key focus of this position is helping to ensure the safety of dams, from small, remote dams up to large federal projects.

Working in the Treasure Valley, where Boise is located, is an opportunity for an engineer to experience all that Idaho has to offer. Boise is Idaho’s capital city, cultural hub, and largest urban center. Other vibrant and growing Treasure Valley communities include Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, and Caldwell, all with easy access to nearby public lands and world class outdoor recreation opportunities.

A one-time $5,000 RECRUITMENT BONUS is offered for this position to non-State of Idaho employees that meet recruitment bonus criteria.

There are four job classification levels for this opening: Engineer, Intern; Engineer, Associate; Engineer, Staff; and Engineer, Technical 1.

As an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) you will enter at the Engineer Intern or Associate level, depending on your level of experience.

As a licensed professional engineer, you will enter at the Staff or Technical 1 Engineer level, depending on your level of experience.

Through on-the-job training, classroom training, and achievement of team goals and agency goals, there will be opportunities to progress to the next full working-level job class in the Engineering career track.
