Initial Data Operations’ PRIM (Print Center, Records, Imaging, Mailroom) unit is recruiting for a Technical Records Specialist 1 to join our team. Duties include various machine operations, mail opening and sorting, research within our records keeping system, physical document organization, data entry, and other production tasks as assigned.

Due to our mailroom functions, the workday starts at 7:00am. We handle a broad variety of work, keeping our days busy, physically active, and full of energy. The successful candidate will work closely with their coworkers to achieve our daily deadlines and department goals. Initial Data Operations strives to create a welcoming and productive work environment where our staff has opportunities to learn, develop personal career goals, engage with each other and other departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries
  • Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments
  • Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information
  • Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, payments, and/or documents
  • Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedures Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external
  • Access, maintain, and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports
  • Communicate with taxpayers and/or preparers by telephone, email, and/or other written correspondence

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 6 moths of experience in each of the following areas:

  • Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
  • Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
  • Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system
