ISP Investigative Assistant

The Idaho State Police (ISP) coordinates intelligence support for the Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiatives through the Idaho Criminal Intelligence Center ([IC]2).

[IC]2 is seeking to recruit and hire a Research Analyst in support of investigative, and strategic needs of the Idaho Fusion Center, HIDTA initiatives and the Oregon-Idaho HIDTA.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Prepare weekly information briefs, periodic written intelligence bulletins and periodic intelligence assessments for the Idaho Criminal Intelligence Center [IC]2; 
  • Perform statistical research and formulating of data to be inputted across multiple platforms
  • Perform Intelligence Analyst function for the Idaho Criminal Intelligence Center [IC]2;
  • Provide investigative case support for major crimes such as homicide, abduction, fraud, drug, and conspiracy;
  • Respond to requests for information for criminal information from law enforcement agencies;
  • Cross check current police operations against each other to avoid duplication;
  • Research and compile reports, statements, and documentation;
  • Contact and interview others to obtain critical information;
  • Utilize databases and business records to develop suspect information, identify assets, etc;
  • Interpret federal and state codes in regulatory matters;
  • Establish and maintain liaison contacts with other law enforcement agencies;
  • Provide training to law enforcement related to analytical processes and analytical products;
  • Conduct intelligence briefings to Idaho Criminal Intelligence Center Chain of Command;
  • Conduct briefings to assist Command Staff personnel in allocation of resources;
  • Conduct liaison with Idaho law enforcement agencies to assist in the sharing of criminal intelligence;
  • Disseminate intelligence information to Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies;
  • May be called to testify in court or administrative hearings;
  • General data entry requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience researching a variety of sources to locate individuals;
  • Experience interpreting and applying rules, laws, and regulations and explaining them to others;
  • Experience conducting and documenting sensitive fact-finding interviews;
  • Experience researching and writing reports;
  • Experience entering and retrieving data in a computer records system;
  • Valid driver's license.
