State Hospital South (SHS) is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapist. SHS located in Blackfoot, Idaho provides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. State Hospital South includes 110 psychiatric adult beds and 42 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients. The 42 skilled nursing beds in the Syringa Chalet Nursing Facility offer services to consumers with a history of behavioral or psychiatric illness. The Physical therapist shall provide physical therapy services for patients and residents at SHS upon request by the hospital's medical clinic physician (or designee). 

This announcement may be used to fill permanent, temporary, full-time, and/or part-time positions. Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. 

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

  • Provide hands-on care to patients using a variety of therapeutic techniques.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessment and goals.
  • Perform evaluations, re-evaluations, and ongoing assessments to monitor patient progress.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, and exercises.
  • Document patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and chiropractors as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Stay current with developments in the field by attending conferences, workshops, and pursuing continuing education opportunities.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and in-service training sessions.
  • Ensure clinic cleanliness and organization, including equipment maintenance and safety checks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Licensure as a physical therapist in Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2202. Registration or a temporary registration must be obtained prior to appointment.
