Tax Commission Career Opportunity

The position is in the Boise Office in the Chinden Campus, 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. 

Minimum salary is $21.00 per hour. A salary analysis may be completed for the selected candidate. 


Initial Data Operations is seeking a talented and aspiring leader to supervise the Resource Team work unit. Our Resource Team facilitates the divisional new hire training program. The qualified candidate will have strong presentation and teaching skills as well as an aptitude for organization and planning.

Duties include but are not limited to supervision of staff, training of divisional staff, working escalated issues, staff development, quality assurance of work performed, hiring of seasonal staff and the paperwork associated with this process, running reports and presenting data, assessing work priorities, creating PowerPoint presentations, and supply orders for the division.

These tasks rely heavily on a strong attention to detail, favor prioritization and organizational skills, utilize confidence in communicating with others, and the capacity for deductive reasoning..

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve problems associated with staff assignments
  • Review work to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and policies
  • Provide work direction and answer questions requiring subject matter expertise
  • Track, test and analyze problems with processes forms, system configurations and develop solutions for management consideration
  • Review documents to determine appropriate actions, ensure accuracy of computations and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Review, develop and update unit processes and procedures 
  • Research, analyze, and resolve complex problems in processing documents
  • Correct or reject incomplete or erroneously submitted documents
  • Contact taxpayers or their representatives to explain changes, actions, and errors, or resolve problems and gain compliance
  • Conduct fact-finding interviews to obtain or verify information
  • Approve changes and make modifications, adjustments or recalculations
  • Interpret, apply, and provide information on laws, rules, requirements, and procedures
  • Review and analyze legal documents for discrepancies
  • Compose letters to address and resolve issues
  • Conduct one-on-one conversations with taxpayers and/or representatives to resolve complex discrepancies
  • Train and provide guidance to staff
  • Collaborate with others including attorneys or tax professionals
  • Advise taxpayers of appeal or protest rights

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices (Completed a class or seminar lasting more than 1 day specifically covering supervisory practices OR at least 6 months of full-time work experience that included work assignment, direction, and monitoring of staff)
  • At least 18 months of full-time work experience managing records
  • At least 1 year of full-time work experience interpreting, applying or explaining state or federal laws, rules, and policies
  • At least 1 year of full-time work experience researching and reviewing legal documents for compliance with laws to identify complex issues (e.g. court orders, contracts, ownership, deeds, trusts, tax returns, etc)
  • Experience creating correspondence and documents using word processing software
