Be part of the team that processes the tax returns and refunds of Idaho! Revenue Operations’ Registration and Processing unit is recruiting for a Technical Records Specialist 2 to become a subject matter expert in tax return processing. 

We take pride in having an engaged and collaborative work environment where our staff have opportunities to grow in their careers as stewards to the taxpayers of Idaho. Minimum salary of $18.00 per hour, rate of pay will depend on qualifications and experience. This position is located at the Boise Office in the Chinden Campus located at 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. This announcement may also be used to fill other Technical Records Specialist 2 vacancies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist taxpayers going through the appeals process
    • Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries
    • Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments
    • Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information
    • Perform specialized support work that involves intermediate knowledge of the program
    • Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, payments and/or documents Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedures
    • Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external
    • Access, maintain and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports
    • May make and receive phone calls to and from taxpayers and preparers

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • At least 1 year of work experience monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors
    • At least 1 year of work experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs
    • At least 1 year of work experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues
    • At least 1 year of work experience dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in stressful situations
    • At least 1 year of work experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system
    • At least 1 year of work experience composing and proofreading business correspondence
