Registration and Processing’s Business Income Tax unit is recruiting for a Technical Records Specialist 1 to join our team. Duties include business tax return processing and error correction within our records keeping system and other production tasks as assigned. The successful candidate will work closely with their coworkers to achieve our daily deadlines and department goals. Registration and Processing strives to create a welcoming and productive work environment where our staff have opportunities to learn, engage with each other, and develop their career goals. This announcement may also be used to fill other vacant Technical Records Specialist 1 vacancies. Salary analysis will be conducted for the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries
  • Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments
  • Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information
  • Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, payments, and/or documents
  • Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedures Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external
  • Access, maintain, and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports
  • Communicate with taxpayers and/or preparers by telephone, email, and/or other written correspondence

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
  • Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
  • Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
  • Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system
