Summary:

The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect a community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for a part-time Correctional Administrative Technician. Correctional Administrative Technicians work within an institution and are customer service oriented and may greet clients, visitors, volunteers, answering phone calls at a facility front entry desk, and disseminate information to staff. Technicians are often the first point of contact for staff, contractors, volunteers, and stakeholders coming to or calling the facility. The Correctional Administrative Technicians may provide administrative support to correctional officers and can assist with property rollups, inventory, enter move sheets and case notes, control door panels, monitor radio traffic, assist with count, monitor incoming and outgoing mail, telephone calls, and emails. This announcement will be used for the South Boise Complex to include Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC), Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI), and Idaho Maximum Security Institution (IMSI), Mountain View Transformation Center (MVTC) in Boise Idaho. This is a temporary part-time position. Benefits may be available depending on hours worked.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide customer service by greeting all clients, visitors, contractors, and volunteers that come into the facility. 
  2. Answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate staff member. 
  3. Provide administrative support to correctional staff such as property rollups, inventory, enter move sheets and case. notes, operate control door panels .
  4. Monitor radio traffic, incoming and outgoing mail, telephone calls, and emails. 
  5. Disseminate information to staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Good knowledge of office support functions including word processing, filing, composing a variety of business documents and reception. Typically gained by one year of experience performing the duties described above OR an Associate's degree in office administration/administrative services.
  2. Good knowledge of gathering and compiling data. Typically gained by one year of experience gathering and compiling information for reports or documents to be reviewed or provided to others.
  3. Good knowledge of balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects. Typically gained by one year of experience balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects. This experience includes prioritizing deadlines, organizing tasks, and working with frequent interruptions or distractions.

Specialty Qualifications:

  1. Willing to work in a correctional facility.
