The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking a full-time clinician to join the team at our facility in Lewiston, Idaho.

Licensure supervision is available for LMFTs, LPCs, and LMSWs in need of their clinical endorsement. Clinicians are well trained by IDJC and often attend trainings and conferences to obtain specialized training that advances their skillset.

Responsibilities:

This position works with juveniles in a correctional environment, providing direct clinical services, assessment and multifaceted clinical therapy, drug and alcohol treatment and psycho educational prevention services, and/or rehabilitative services to juveniles and their families. The incumbent will work closely with a juvenile's treatment team to provide accurate and up-to-date progress to facilitate the best outcome for the juvenile. Treatment modalities include but are not limited to group facilitation and individual sessions.

1. Assessment:

  • Applies clinical skills to assess client/family needs; formulates assessment and therapeutic recommendations; prepares findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnosis, and recommendations; may select, score, administer, and interpret psychological tests. 

2. Therapy/rehabilitations: 

  • Designs, implements, and directs multifaceted clinical therapies and rehabilitation programs; provides clinical case management services; evaluates treatment effectiveness and client/family outcomes; provides emergency, crisis intervention, and after hours on-call services; may supervise other staff. 

3. Consultation/education: 

  • Advocates for client and family; presents assessment results to multidisciplinary team; participates in treatment planning; provides forensic services; designs and implements training; coordinates program with other service providers and community organizations; provides client, family, and community education services; may serve as designated examiner and dispositioner; may participate in research projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.) 

 MQ Specialties: 

  • A license in one of the following areas: Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensure in another state; some positions may require certification as a school psychologist; if licensed in another state must obtain an endorsement for an Idaho license within 90 days of hire; experience using evidence based treatment practices counseling juveniles and their families; willingness to work in a juvenile facility; requires incumbent be comfortable dealing with behavioral acting out that could include possible harassment, threats, and verbal abuse from juveniles in custody; CPR/AED certification.
