Description
Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking full time Women Infant Children (WIC) Registered Dietitian to work out of the Idaho Falls office. Travel to other offices may be required to assist.
This position does require the candidate to be a Licensed Dietitian through the State of Idaho.
CLASS PURPOSE - To conduct nutritional care and education programs for WIC clients; perform related work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certification as a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association
Eligibility for licensure in the State of Idaho as a Dietitian accordance with Idaho Code, Section 54-3506.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Good knowledge of education principles and methods as applied to nutrition counseling and education.
Some knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and food handling methods.
Some knowledge of program planning and evaluation.
Experience identifying dietary problems related to nutrition intake; analyzing and evaluating nutrition data; adapting nutrition counseling and education to meet social, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds of participants.
DUTIES
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition-education programs that meet standards for compliance with federal, state and district requirements
Perform nutrition assessments, which includes anthropometric and hematological components
Provide counseling and education on nutrition, breastfeeding, and other health-related issues to participants utilizing motivational interviewing techniques
Develop individual care plans for participants
Make and follow up on appropriate referrals verbally, and in writing
Issue and explain food benefits
Prepare and update educational material for both WIC staff and participants
Function as a WIC certifier as needed
Promote breastfeeding as the preferred method of infant feeding, provide breastfeeding support and, make needed referrals to the Peer Counseling program
Participant in outreach activities, as assigned
Completes assigned monthly reports
Provide training to WIC staff
Travel and work in other clinics as assigned
Attend required meetings
Supervise dietetic interns
Other duties as assigned

Public health employees must be willing to participate in public health preparedness activities and training and may be asked to perform activities within their skill levels that are not part of their normal jobs.
