The Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to fill the Director of Nursing Services position at the state of the art State Veterans Home in Post Falls! 

This is a tremendous opportunity for a professional and proven leader experienced in high-level nursing management, state and federal rules and regulations, and policy administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the comprehensive nursing services of a long-term care facility with 64 beds. 
  • Participate in institutional leadership to assist in the development of institution-wide goals, policies, quality management, and budget. 
  • Emphasis on setting the institution's nursing leadership and management standards, by coaching, mentoring, and tutoring nursing staff and employee/client problem solving. 
  • Use a broad nursing and management background to plan, organize, staff, direct, and control a comprehensive institutional nursing program that includes all quality of care and quality of life issues.
  •  Ensure the use of appropriate nursing administration and management practices to meet legal standards of nursing practice and current trends in service delivery.
  •  Develop and implement the budget or direct the development and administration of the nursing service budget.
  •  Participate in executive decision making to plan and develop programs and policy. 
  • Developing and initiating changes to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with nursing laws and regulations, and the presentation or oversight of training to implement required changes. 
  • Evaluating and modifying goals, priorities, and organizational structures to provide optimum nursing care service.


Minimum Qualifications: 

 Certification: 

  • Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following compact states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

Good knowledge of: 

  • Management practices in the supervision and training of a professional nursing staff.
  • Nursing administration and organizational structure and staffing including experience applying current nursing theory and trends in institutional nursing service delivery.

Experience: 

  • Applying legal standards of nursing practice and assessing compliance with nursing laws and regulations and initiating appropriate changes.
