Southwest District Health (SWDH) is recruiting two (2) Registered Dietitian, Public Health Seniors (WIC Dietitian) to join the dedicated group of public health professionals in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program within the Division of Family and Clinic Services. One position is full-time (40 hours per week), and the other is part-time (20 hours per week). Both positions are benefited positions.

As a WIC Dietitian and public health employee, you will serve an active role in improving the health of your community. As part of a small, but mighty team, you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition care and education programs for clients in the six-county area of SWDH. Your responsibilities will include program planning activities and related work. Additionally, you’ll provide nutrition assessment consultation and interventions for participants of the WIC program.

Our generous benefits package boosts total compensation for both full-time and part-time WIC Dietitian. For full-time positions, our offering transforms the hourly pay range from $29.43 - $32.89/hour to an estimated $42.60 - $46.47/hour. Typical Duties:

Candidates must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications of the position.

• Provide nutrition and health assessments at clinics
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations
• Develop individual care plans and make referrals as necessary
• Prescribe food benefits for high-risk participants
• Collaborate with other agencies and health professionals
• Administer WIC benefits and determine eligibility
• Prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
• Complete training-related program reports
• Investigate and resolve customer and staff complaints
• Coordinate outreach to community partners and participants
• Deliver presentations to various stakeholders
• Review menu nutritional adequacy
• Coordinate staff training and development
• Organize nutrition education materials and conduct training sessions
• Manage task assignments for support staff
• Make recommendations for WIC service improvements
• Conduct needs assessments at multiple levels
• Evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments

Minimum Qualifications:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to qualify for this position. All required experience and/or education must be listed under the work history section of this application OR on your resume and must include a detailed explanation of your roles and responsibilities at each relevant employer.

Minimum Qualifications (MQ):

• Certified as a Registered Dietician by the American Dietetic Association And eligible for licensure in the State of Idaho as a Dietician in accordance with Idaho Code, Section 54-3506 (licensure MUST be obtained PRIOR to appointment).
• Good knowledge of:
   -     Food Service management and program planning and evaluation
   -     Education principles and methods as applied to nutrition counseling and education

“Good knowledge” typically gained through either a closely related bachelor's degree, 2-4 upper division college courses related to the subject and 2-4 years of mid-level work experience closely related to the subject, or a combination of coursework and experience that represents the knowledge level above.

• Experience using a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) pre-planned program

MQ Specialty:

• Valid Driver’s License

Ideal Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

• Good knowledge of public health and community organization relating to common health problems, basic disease etiologies and preventive strategies; survey methods and basic statistics used to collect and interpret data; training methods.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish

Supplemental Information:

These positions are not covered by Social Security. As a result, employees do not pay Social Security taxes and will not earn credits toward Social Security retirement, disability, or survivor benefits based on earnings from this job. However, Medicare taxes will still be withheld, and these earnings will count toward Medicare eligibility.
