The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is seeking to fill the Regional Wildlife Habitat Manager position at our Southeast Regional office in Pocatello.

Responsibilities:

• Plans, organizes, and evaluates a regional habitat program.
• Supervises and trains staff
• Assigns work and evaluates performance
• Develop and monitor program budgets
• Develop priorities for managing department lands
• Prepares habitat management plans for state wildlife management areas and private land programs
• Assigns responsibility for and participates in the review of environmental documents
• Develop regional land acquisition priorities
• Provides recommendations on potential habitat acquisitions, sales or exchanges 

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)

• Considerable knowledge of: wildlife management practices to include ecology, habitat requirements, and population dynamics of wildlife; agricultural and grazing practices; range and timber management (Typically gained by at least nine years of full-time professional experience such as habitat and resource management or wildlife population management, OR successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and at least five years of full-time professional experience such as habitat and resource management or wildlife population management, OR successful completion of a Master degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and at least three years of full-time professional experience.)
• Experience: evaluating effects of habitat development on wildlife; developing and maintaining wildlife habitat; habitat acquisition methods; working with environmental laws relating to wildlife habitat management; negotiating and writing cooperative habitat development agreements; working with federal and state land management agencies and non-governmental organizations on wildlife habitat issues (Typically gained by at least eight years of professional experience working directly with sportsmen, private landowners, and state and federal agencies to implement wildlife management actions, OR successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and at least four years of professional experience working directly with sportsmen, private landowners, and state and federal agencies to implement wildlife management actions, OR successful completion of a Master’s degree in Wildlife or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and at least two years of professional experience working directly with sportsmen, private landowners, and state and federal agencies to implement wildlife management actions.)
• Good knowledge of plant ecology and physiology and the interaction between plant and animal species (Typically gained by at least six years of professional work experience to include work in plant ecology and physiology and the interaction between plant and animal species, OR successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and at least two years of profession work experience include work in plant ecology and physiology and the interaction between plant and animal species, OR successful completion of a Master’s degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.)
• Some knowledge of supervisory practices (Typically gained by at least six months of experience supervising employees (seasonal, temporary, technicians, support, volunteers, work groups, teams) with direct responsibility for assigning and reviewing their work, input into performance evaluations and handling conflict and/or performance problems and hiring (may have only input into final selection. This experience could include serving as a project leader or lead worker OR completion of a class or seminar (more than one day), specifically covering supervisory practices.) 

The ideal candidate will have planning and permitting experience for facilities and habitat rehabilitation projects.
