POST – Financial Specialist 

The Idaho State Police (ISP) has a current opening for a Financial Specialist within Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in Meridian. This position will perform various professional financial duties requiring application of accounting principles and practices. 

PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation and polygraph examination. Please review the ISP Drug Policy and ISP Grooming and Appearance Standards. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts and collections for contractual agreements 
  • Process and monitor accounts receivable 
  • Process and monitor accounts payable 
  • Process and monitor credit/debit card and electronic check receipts 
  • Account reconciliations 
  • Create and process general ledger journal entries 
  • Monitor, maintain, and report POST fixed asset and equipment inventory 
  • Monitor and report federal grant budgets and expenditures 
  • Prepare, analyze, and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, and other related documents 
  • Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances to ensure acceptable business practices and procedures have been followed and for compliance with state laws and regulations

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  •  Experience managing accounts receivable, including collection activity on delinquent accounts
  • Experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports 
  • Experience using advanced Microsoft Excel functions 
  • Experience monitoring federal grant expenditures for compliance and compiling status reports
  • Experience monitoring and tracking fixed assets and equipment inventory
