State of Idaho - Department of Administration Opportunity

The Department of Administration, Division of Public Works, is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager. At the Department of Administration, be prepared to feel important, needed, and surrounded by great people! 

The Facility Manager will be overseeing multiple building facilities located throughout the state, including construction, remodeling, maintenance and leasing, and space planning.

We serve Idaho by promoting responsible government through expert customer support.


EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Management:

  • Develops and implements facilities management policies and procedures;
  • Directs architectural design, planning, review, and management of construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects for department buildings and facilities;
  • Hires and trains staff and evaluates performance;
  • Conducts statewide facilities surveys and identifies projects and costs; determines project priorities;
  • Directs inspection of proposed space leasing sites and negotiates leases;
  • Develops budgets for all regional facilities;
  • Develops section budget and monitors expenditures.

Engineering analysis/review:

  • Serves as technical architectural consultant and analyzes the physical, mechanical, and structural aspects of facilities;
  • Confers with management regarding remodeling and construction needs and approves plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction methods;
  • Monitors and coordinates Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council projects; Develops and/or coordinates department proposals for facilities projects;
  • Evaluates projects on site, reviews work of contractors, and closes out projects.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Good knowledge of: 

  • Building, safety, and fire codes; 
  • office space planning and utilization; 
  • management practices; 
  • security systems and practices.

Experience: 

  • Overseeing and directing all aspects of commercial facilities; 
  • architectural and engineering reviews; 
  • minor and major remodeling; 
  • compliance with related building codes and regulations within the state of Idaho; 
  • supervising staff;
  •  interpreting the theory and practically applying commercial construction plans and proposals; 
  • recognizing and evaluating deviations from engineering standards;
  •  developing and monitoring operating budgets; 
  • contract negotiations.
