This position will provide case coordination for children in the Developmental Disabilities Program accessing Family Directed Services (FDS). Developmental Specialists in the FDS program have reported that they enjoy making a difference in the lives of Idaho children in the FDS Program, working in a positive, supportive environment and culture, work-life balance free from an on-call schedule and billable hours, sharing knowledge while learning with a variety of team members across the state from different professional backgrounds. This position is open forCoeur d'Alene, Kellogg, Ponderay, Lewiston, Moscow, and Grangeville.

This position may be eligible for telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Process all required plan paperwork and documents for Family Directed Services (FDS) according to IDAPA rule and federal requirements.
• Provide training for families choosing the FDS Option for their child's developmental disabilities budget.
• Conduct Support Broker trainings and facilitating Support Broker exams for the FDS Option.
• Provide additional trainings to Support Brokers on various requested topics relating to their job duties as Support Brokers.
• Analyze and interpret assessments to authorize services in compliance with program rules.
• Communicate professionally with families, case managers and Support Brokers through letters, e-mails and by phone regarding the FDS program and youth in that program.
• Use clear, concise, and legally defensible written communication.
• Utilize a variety of computer programs to process FDS plans, including Microsoft Office, Adobe and other PDF editors, and WebEx.
• Attending ongoing meetings and trainings with the FDS team and larger Children's DD Program team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

• A college degree (bachelor's or master's) in special education, psychology, communication disorders, physical therapy occupational therapy, social work or other closely related curriculum: including specialized training in developmental disabilities or at least one year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. Typically gained by a specialized training in developmental disabilities OR at least one year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities OR a combination of specialized training and experience.
• Experience selecting, administering, and interpreting test instruments designed to assess developmental disabilities in adults and/or children; making oral presentations. Typically gained by practicum or coursework from college degree related background dealing with the full range of assessment of adult or child developmentally disabled population OR approximately one year of experience administering assessment instruments to adults and/or children under professional supervision (could be related assessments, vocational, residential, or psychosocial test instruments).
• Some knowledge of training methods. Typically gained by successful completion of 16 hours of training covering communication concepts, learning styles, course design, and presentation skills OR experience presenting formal training sessions to groups (this could include “canned” presentations) and no formal training in training theory. If you gained this knowledge through experience, include in your response audience size, topics, length and frequency of training, and any experience you may have doing needs assessment, developing lesson plans, and evaluating effectiveness.
