This Elevator Inspector position is a great opportunity for a professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans. 

This position will be working in and around Twin Falls and Central Idaho. The specific city this position will be based out of will depend upon the residence of the successful applicant. This is a full-time position with full state benefits. The anticipated work schedule is 40 hours per week, with some occasional overtime required.

Example of Duties:

• Conducting inspections or reviews of activities, including determining compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and laws;
• Providing technical advice and assistance in best practices and corrective actions;
• Overseeing implementation of safety codes, regulations, and laws;
• Investigates occupational accidents to determine cause and corrective action;
• Conducting on-site inspections, investigating complaints, and seeking compliance with regulations and safety standards;
• Assembling and preparing background information and documentation regarding noncompliance activities, code violations, safety reviews, and licensure discrepancies;
• Providing technical expertise to public agencies, building officials, building representatives, contractors, and the public;
• Assisting management and legal staff in addressing violations and possibly testifying in court or in administrative hearings.

Physical Activities:

• Walking throughout the day;
• Crawling in and out of confined spaces including attics and crawl spaces;
• Climbing series of stairs in multistory buildings;
• Climbing ladders up to 14 feet high;
• Driving a state vehicle throughout the day;
• Moving building material weighing up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: analyzing data for the purposes of making recommendations; operating a personal computer; analyzing data and preparing written reports.
• Valid driver's license.

• Elevator Inspections: Certification as a qualified elevator inspector (QEI) in accordance with Idaho Code 39-8607 will need to be already obtained or will be obtained within the first 12 months of employment. 

Preferred qualifications:

Technology - The ideal candidate would be:

• Comfortable using a cell phone for phone calls, texting, email and Microsoft Teams calls
• Comfortable in using Microsoft Outlook email and calendars
• Comfortable in learning a new computer database and entering information including reports to customers

Travel:

• An Elevator Inspector covers a large area and this position with be the backup for most of Southern Idaho when needed, this requires travel and staying overnight in hotel rooms
• The ideal candidate will work with their supervisor to adjust their schedule throughout the week and will be flexible to work longer days when needed
