Information Technology Services (ITS), currently has an opening for an IT Architect III position with a focus on Security and Network strategy and Design in our Chinden office in Boise.
This position will be a senior technical expert involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial stages through the requirements analysis, design, procurement, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance. This position is responsible for enabling executive business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization and perform related work.
The selected individual must be able to lead or assist in leading programs to develop, maintain, and govern the IT architecture across the agency emphasizing the design and implementation of secure and efficient network solutions for strategic projects.
Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.
Example of duties:
- Lead, consult or oversee multiple architectural engagements with a primary emphasis on security and network solutions;
- Perform gap analysis for difference between technology and business requirements, particularly in security and network infrastructure;
- Ensure compatibility with existing solutions, network infrastructure, security protocols, services and strategic requirements;
- Interact with customers to compare their technology utilization to established security and network standards and frameworks, identifying gaps and assisting in plans to close identified gaps;
- Research future technologies trends in security and networking and determine which are viable and will provide the best cost benefit and match the needs of the business;
- Contribute to the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction focusing on security and network strategies;
- Support, develop and communicate enterprise-wide policies, standards, guidelines and procedures related to security and network;
- Identify opportunities for reuse/repurpose network and security components;
- Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms with reusable/re-purposable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different business solutions.
- Supply technical requirements to procurement/solicitation efforts for new/replacement systems, especially those related to network and security, and participate on evaluation teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Some knowledge of management practices including financial and strategic planning cycles.
Typically gained by an applicable two-year degree or equivalent college level coursework related to management or finance OR at least one year of work experience applying management practices including financial and strategic planning cycles. - Good knowledge of organizational change management practices, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, and structured problem management.
Typically gained by at least two years of work experience OR an equivalent combination of classroom training/coursework and one year of work experience directly related to organizational change management practices, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, and structured problem management. - Considerable knowledge of current trends in information technology.
Typically gained by at least five years of work experience in the information technology field working with multiple technologies OR an equivalent combination of classroom training that covered multiple technologies and work experience in the information technology field working with multiple technologies. Education and experience must be within the last ten years. - Considerable knowledge of computer hardware and software capabilities and limitations.
