Training Content Specialist

Responsibilities 

The Training Content Specialist will work under the direction of the Training Content Manager. Your overarching responsibility will be to provide Luma, our state enterprise reporting planning (ERP) software for HR and finance, tier 0 and 1 support to agencies and employees. Responsibilities include triaging and responding to tickets, answering phone calls, and designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training resources for various finance and human resources (HR) modules for the State Employees of Idaho. This includes areas such as budgeting, procurement, projects and grants, accounts receivables, accounts payables, expense management, HR, payroll, workforce management (WFM), and more. You will design, develop, and deliver a comprehensive set of training resources for finance and HR. This role necessitates close collaboration with your team, seeking guidance from leadership, and engaging with finance and HR process owners and experts.

This position is exempt from the classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. The Luma Division is established as the sustainment organization to support State of Idaho agencies and their employees in the use of the Luma system for day-to-day business operations.

Job Functions

• Answer customer calls and triage tickets through the use of Service Now.

• Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to assist customers with questions related to system functionality.

• Assume content authoring responsibility of assigned Luma finance, HR and WFM group(s) training materials, technical writing processes, procedures, policies, training aids, and other resources that support employees.

• Design and develop new materials and update existing materials to meet the specific needs of your assigned Luma finance, HR and WFM group(s).

• Collaborate with finance, HR, payroll, WFM and agency subject matter experts to identify training needs, performance gaps, process improvements, and maintain documentation and resource materials.

• Provide virtual and instructor led training on system usage, as needed.

• Ensure the accuracy of the system training environment for virtual training and resource development.

• Stay informed about Infor Customer Update system enhancements that require training and documentation updates.

• Provide weekly status updates on your assigned work, projects, requests, and assignments to the bureau chief.

Additional Functions

• Contributes to the positive performance of the Luma Division and the office.

• Demonstrates timely and consistent attendance.

• This is an in-office position with up to two remote days per week only, and after a 90-day probationary period.

• Any additional duties as assigned by State Controller or his/her designee.

Qualifications

• Experience in instructional design, technical writing, and training and delivery (3 year minimum is preferred).

• Strong customer service orientation, excellent interpersonal skills, as well as strong change and conflict management skills.

• Demonstrate an understanding of finance, procurement, projects and grants, budget, HR, WFM, and/or payroll or a desire to learn.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely for employee training and meeting participation.

• Collaborative team player who can give and receive constructive feedback, adapt to changing work priorities and deliverables, and think critically to ensure the delivery of appropriate training and support to employees.

• Self-starter with the initiative to proactively complete tasks and anticipate work needed for Luma processes, programs, trainings, and employee needs.

• Intermediate technology skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Webex, Snagit. Knowledge of Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Qualtrics, and Vizio is a bonus.

Skills and Competencies

Training Content Specialist: Proficient in instructional design, e-learning authoring, adult learning theories and models (ADDIE, BEM, Merrill, Blooms Taxonomy, Mager and Pipe), with expertise in training delivery.

Technical Writer: Attention to detail, skilled in interview and consultancy questioning techniques, and experienced in software technical writing, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

General: Strong time management, interpersonal communication, accountability, collaboration, graphic design, web and UX design, and video and media production skills.
