State Hospital West (SHW) in Nampa, Idaho is seeking a dedicated and visionary Hospital Administrator to lead our psychiatric hospital serving adolescents aged 12-17. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mental health, a commitment to compassionate care, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by youth with mental health issues. As the Hospital Administrator, you will oversee all aspects of hospital operations, ensuring that SHW meets the highest standards of care, as recognized by our Joint Commission Accreditation. You will work closely with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and engage with the community to address the mental health needs of Idaho's youth. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Leadership & Management:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to all hospital departments, ensuring alignment with SHW’s mission and goals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that supports teamwork, professional development, and staff well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, maintaining SHW’s Joint Commission Accreditation status.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote efficient operations and high-quality patient care.

Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between SHW and the community, building and maintaining strong relationships with local stakeholders, including families, schools, and mental health organizations.
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of Idaho’s youth, representing SHW in public forums and collaborating with state and local agencies to improve mental health services.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hospital, including clinical services, patient safety, facility management, and financial performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, implementing improvements as needed to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Manage the hospital’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation aligned with SHW’s goals.

Team Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent, ensuring that SHW has a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Promote ongoing education and training for staff, supporting their professional growth and the delivery of evidence-based care.

Strategic Planning:

  • Lead the development and execution of the hospital’s strategic plan, setting long-term goals and objectives that align with the needs of the community and the healthcare environment.
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion, partnerships, and innovation in service delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum/specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a psychiatric or behavioral health setting. 
  • Proven track record of successful hospital management, including experience with Joint Commission Accreditation. 
  • Strong understanding of the mental health needs of adolescents, particularly in a psychiatric setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. 
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and patient-centered care.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Experience working with adolescent populations in a psychiatric hospital setting. 
  • Familiarity with Idaho’s mental health system and community resources. 
  • Experience with Joint Commission Accreditation standards and CMS certification.
