Southwest District Health (SWDH) is recruiting an IT Systems & Infrastructure Engineer 2 to join the dedicated group of public health professionals in the IT Department within the Division of District Operations.

As an IT Systems & Infrastructure Engineer 2 and public health employee, you will serve an active role in improving the health of your community. As part of a small, but mighty team, you will work under the direction of the IT Manager, focusing on the integration and support of the District’s Public Health clinical systems and resources. You will also provide end-user and desktop support for District employees, manage desktops, software, and maintain key IT systems and infrastructure. This includes overseeing network LAN/WAN, servers, VMware, firewalls, network monitoring, security, and Help Desk, ensuring seamless operation and security of all IT services critical to the District's mission.

Our generous benefits package boosts total compensation for full-time IT Systems & Infrastructure Engineer 2, transforming the base pay range from $33.43 - $39.33/hour to an estimated total compensation value, including benefits, of $47.13 - $54.35/hour, showcasing our investment in your well-being and professional growth.


Typical Duties:

Candidates must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications of the position.

  • Execute advanced IT technical functions for the installation, administration, and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, servers, storage, printers, networks, database programs, and related data processing elements.
  • Monitor, review, and take corrective actions on the District's operating systems, hardware, data circuits, applications, security systems, and virtual infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, and wireless controllers.
  • Monitor and maintain continuity and security of the District's network and IT infrastructure.
  • Schedule, monitor, and perform maintenance of automated backups and replication of District data and virtual infrastructure to the disaster recovery site.
  • Regularly test and document recovery procedures.
  • Provide in-person and phone support for end-users, documenting incidents in the IT tracking system.
  • Support desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile phones, and other client software.
  • Create written documentation and conduct end-user training for the District's enterprise clinical database applications and business software.
  • Monitor and maintain the security of the District's IT infrastructure, ensuring confidentiality, compliance, and legal requirements.


Minimum Qualifications:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to qualify for this position. All required experience and/or education must be listed under the work history section of this application OR on your resume and must include a detailed explanation of your roles and responsibilities at each relevant employer.

Minimum Qualifications (MQ):

  • Good knowledge of current information technology trends and capabilities, typically gained through either a closely related bachelor's degree, 2-4 upper division college courses related to the subject and 2-4 years of mid-level work experience closely related to the subject, or a combination of coursework and experience that represents the knowledge level above.
  • Approximately 2-3 years of related work experience in the following areas:
     -     Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting network, server or storage systems
     -     Resolving network or server problems
     -     Working with end users to develop and implement information technology solutions for user computing needs in a business environment

MQ Specialty:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Approximately 2-3 years of related work experience in the following areas:
      -     Administering and supporting IT systems (e.g., Server operating systems including Microsoft Windows Servers and/or Linux Servers; Active Directory; scripting languages; Server Applications; Storage; etc.)
     -     Administering and supporting network systems (e.g., Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Points, etc.)
     -     Managing and maintaining virtual server environments
     -     Implementing and maintaining server backup solutions
     -     Implementing automation of server management tasks
