The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is currently seeking a Financial Specialist. The position is part of our Accounts Payable team in our Administration Bureau that is located at our Headquarters office situated adjacent to the Boise Greenbelt, the MK Nature Center, and Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise.

What We Offer: 

Responsibilities:

  • Data entry and compilation of high-level invoices
  • Act as a team lead and provide support and training to AP team
  • Approval review of invoices
  • Audit and processing of agency wide P-Cards
  • Management of AP email
  • Audit and processing of agency wide expense reports (XM)Backup P-Card administration duties
  • Development of training materials
  • Backup and aid Fixed Asset team
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers
  • Provide support and aid in creation of AP processes
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications: (This qualification is required.)

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices. (Typically gained by a current professional certification as a CPA or CGFM OR a bachelor’s degree or higher degree that includes at least 20 semester hours, or equivalent college coursework in accounting OR at least four years of professional work experience as an accountant, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR an associate degree in accounting and at least two years of professional work experience as an accountant or equivalent.)

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about financial record keeping methods and have experience in Statewide Accounting System Applications. Additional consideration may be given at the time of interview to candidates who are critical thinkers and problem solvers with strong organizational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. They are proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and have experience using personal computers to enter, retrieve and edit financial data.
