Description
Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking a full-time Women Infant Children (WIC) Clinical Assistant. EIPH currently has openings in the Rexburg office. Travel to other offices may be required to assist. Training will take place in Idaho Falls for all Clinical Assistants regardless of the hiring office. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
CLASS PURPOSE:
To perform paraprofessional clinical duties; establish and maintain client records; conduct in-depth interviews to gather client data; provide clients health and community program resource information; perform related work.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Employees in this classification spend approximately 60% of their time working directly with external customers. This level requires authority, knowledge, and judgment to independently answer more complicated requests where there are no clear procedural responses. Decisions made have a high consequence of error and may have potential legal implications.

This position requires sufficient speech and hearing acuity to perform customer service work. The work environment may be noisy and crowded, with exposure to communicable diseases and hostile or aggressive clients. Most positions involve lifting and carrying children and objects such as audiovisual equipment, boxes, or educational materials weighing 40 pounds.
Public health employees must be willing to participate in public health preparedness activities and training and may be asked to perform activities within their skill levels that are not part of their normal jobs. During emergency situations, employees may be asked to work hours outside of the normal work day to assist with emergency response activities.
