Do you like a small town atmosphere and enjoy the outdoors and mountain scenery? Then State Hospital North (SHN) in Orofino may have a position as a Registered Nurse Manager available for you! SHN is a modern 55-bed adult psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful mountains of North Central Idaho. You will enjoy working with our friendly, dedicated and professional interdisciplinary treatment team and our nurses provide psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho's adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Ensure compliance with outcome-orientated regulations, which requires surveyors to select a sample of the client base.
  • Observe facility staff and others providing services to patients.
  • Conduct unit rounding and record results to ensure sufficient information is gathered on which to base compliance decisions.
  • Use critical thinking skills and professional judgment to determine if the facility is meeting patients needs in accordance with the stated regulations and standards.
  • Complete performance evaluations on staff assigned.
  • Monitor staffing and unit requirements.
  • Work in tandem with Nurse Educator.
  • Attend management and other appointed meetings.
  • Become fluent with Joint Commission Standards and manage compliance on units.
  • Support the DNS in decision making and process changes  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418. For licensure information, please contact the Idaho Board of Nursing at http://ib.idaho.gov or call (208) 577-2476.
  • Good knowledge of supervisory practices. Typically gained by at least one year of supervisory experience that required providing work assignment, and direction and monitoring of staff with responsibility (or significant input) into the hiring of employees, preparing performance evaluations, and handling problem-solving procedures OR completion of courses or seminars (20 hours) that included all the essential elements of management.
  • Experience assessing nursing practices for compliance with policies and procedures and recommending appropriate actions. Typically gained by approximately six months' experience in a supervisory role ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, licensure regulations or care standards. This may include chart audits, data collection, policy and procedure review, committee participation and/or infection control activities.
