The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting a full-time Public Information Specialist. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and disseminating information to the public and media. They will develop and implement communication strategies, write and edit press releases, manage social media platforms, and create relevant digital and print content. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be adept at handling sensitive information, and have a strong ability to engage with diverse audiences to enhance the organization's public image and outreach efforts. This position requires occasional travel within Idaho as well as outside the State.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
· Prepare brochures, web pages, banners, logos, posters, newsletters, ads, presentations, and other materials with direction from the Public Information Officer.
· Collaborate with the communications team and agency subject matter experts to integrate social media into proactive, reactive, and strategic brand and communication strategies.
· Conduct comprehensive market research to identify target audiences and trends to strategically place paid advertisements across various platforms and mediums.
· Remain proficient in current design software programs.
Minimum Qualification: These qualifications are mandatory for the position.
Some knowledge of:
o Organization, structure, and ethics of news media
o Audiovisual production and design techniques to include video productions, still photography, slide shows, or digital graphics
o Writing news releases or preparing general interest news for publication or broadcast
o Researching, composing, designing, and editing informational material
o Interpreting and translating technical or specialized material into information usable by the public
Specialty Qualifications: These qualifications are mandatory requirements.
o Proficient in design software, with demonstrated ability to effectively utilize tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent programs.
