Tax Commission Career Opportunity

The Sales Tax Audit team is currently recruiting for a Tax Audit Manager. Please note that this position currently resides at the Boise campus but can be located in one of our many offices through out the state. 

A compensation analysis will be completed for the selected candidate. 

Summary:
To manage a professional tax audit unit; hire, develop and evaluate staff; serve as a liaison between audit groups, management and other stakeholder groups; perform related work.

Responsibilities:
Incumbents manage a large audit unit and develop employees' competencies, coordinate and integrate functions, and establish and maintain standards for performance. Tax Audit Managers determine unit goals and objectives, establish procedures, and monitor and authorize expenditures. Incumbents serve as key members on committees and advisory groups and plan, facilitate and conduct meetings. They measure, evaluate and communicate section performance and serve as the key liaison between staff and upper management. They coordinate audit functions with other sections.

Detailed responsibilities:
* Minimum Qualifications:  

Good knowledge of: 

  • Accounting principles and practices 

Typically gained by having at least six years of professional work experience as an accountant working in a higher level position, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR having a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field and two years of work experience as an accountant working in a higher level position, or equivalent, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Management theory and practices

Typically gained by having completed two three credit or equivalent classes of upper division college-level coursework that included all the essential elements of management (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling); OR having completed at least one year's experience in a job situation with responsibility for all the essential elements of management.

Experience: 

  • Auditing methodologies and practices

Typically gained by having at least a year of experience at the level of Tax Auditor 3 or equivalent reviewing tax, financial, or accounting record audits.
