Are you looking to make a difference in improving the health of Idahoans? Join our team of public health professionals! The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is seeking a Registered Nurse, Senior, in the Maternal and Child Health Section of the Bureau of Clinical and Preventive Services—Division of Public Health. The Registered Nurse, Senior, will fulfill the Children and Youth with Special Heath Care Needs (CYSHCN) Director role and provide clinical coordination for the Children's Special Health and Newborn Screening Programs. This position will enjoy a Monday through Friday work week, with no weekend or holiday shifts. 

The successful candidate may telework from within Idaho after an initial period of training and supervision. Some travel will be required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Serve as CYSHCN Director and oversee related activities for the Title V Maternal and Child Health block grant.
  • Serve as liaison with the Idaho Family-to-Family Center grantee.
  • Represent MCH and CYSCHN on department advisory groups.
  • Develop and maintain clinical expertise related to current newborn screening guidelines.
  • Provide clinical coordination and technical assistance to newborn screening providers.
  • Monitor NBS abnormal results and assist with short-term follow-up when requested.
  • Assist with Children's Special Health Program clinical care coordination when requested.
  • Respond to legislative, media, and customer inquiries on program topics.
  • Contribute to grant applications, reports, and subgrant development.
  • Supervise two (2) full time staff members and direct their workload.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Requires state licensure as a Registered Nurse or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418. For licensure information, please contact the Idaho Board of Nursing at http://ibn.idaho.gov or call 208-577-2476.
  • Experience performing nursing assessments and developing and implementing nursing care plans. Typically requires at least six months of work experience.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  1. Some experience or knowledge of newborn screening best practices. Typically gained by at least one year of professional work experience or completion of college-level coursework in maternal, perinatal, or infant health.
  2. Some experience or knowledge of children and youth with special health care needs. Typically gained by at least one year of professional work experience or completion of a related, upper division college-level course, such as maternal and child health, population health, healthcare administration or related courses.
  3. Some experience in grant writing and reporting. Typically gained by at least one year of professional work experience where completing grant writing tasks and/or compiling status reports on grant deliverables was a regular function of the position.
