The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Maintenance Craftsman Senior. This position will be located at our Southeast Regional Office located in Pocatello, Idaho. This position is an 8-month benefited temporary position and will work 40 hours a week. Work schedules may include weekends and holidays.

What We Offer: 

General Information:

Incumbents may work in all weather conditions. This position also involves, with or without reasonable accommodations, physical activities associated with construction work such as lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 100 pounds, bending, stooping, and working at heights. Work may be required in remote and rugged terrain.

Responsibilities:

  • This position works as part of a several-person team to perform operations and maintenance of Department lands and facilities, primarily fishing and boating access sites.
  • This work involves collaboration and coordination with staff from multiple agencies and private contractors.
  • Operate equipment such as front-end loader, backhoe, excavator, dozer, dump truck, tractor/trailer transport, forklift, roller, and road graders.
  • Operate tools and equipment such as pressure washers, lawnmowers, and weed eaters.
  • Perform light maintenance (painting, dock repair, small engines).
  • Cleaning/restocking restrooms and removing trash.
  • Document site use, needed repairs, replacing, and installing signage.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, welding and fabrication, woodworking, structural projects, irrigation systems and pump stations, pipes, sinks, lavatories, septic tanks and electrical wiring, lights, ballasts, switches, and receptacles.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.) 

  • Good knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance. (Typically gained by completion of formal training (such as in a vocational-technical school) covering all the following skills; OR at least two years of professional work experience performing all the following: skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance repair; using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work.)
  • Some knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance. (Typically gained by formal training/education specific to HVAC systems; OR approximately six months of (supervised) professional work experience performing routine HVAC maintenance. Performing limited HVAC maintenance on an occasional basis or home maintenance is not qualifying.) Your experience must have been gained in a professional work capacity and must have been a primary responsibility of your job.)
  • Some knowledge of building codes. (Typically gained by completion of formal training, such as in a vocational technical school; OR two years of experience. Include in your response your experience/training, the type of building codes and how used.)
  • Experience reading blueprints and schematics. (Typically gained by completion of formal training, such as in a vocational-technical school; OR at least two years of experience.)

This position requires the following:

  • Experience performing skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical and building maintenance repair.
  • Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work.

Minimum Qualification Specialty: (Required for the current opening)

  • Possess a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a combination vehicle air brake endorsement OR possess a valid driver's license and be willing to obtain a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a combination vehicle/air brake endorsement within ninety days of hire.
