If yes, then this is the position for you! The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking an LPN for our Juvenile Corrections Facility in beautiful Lewiston, Idaho.

This position provides practical nursing services and medical care for juveniles including evaluating, treating and referring juveniles’ medical needs, dispensing medication, arranging for ancillary medical services, maintaining medical records and reports and educating juveniles and staff regarding health care issues and disease prevention.

A $3000 recruitment bonus is available to new hires for a limited time! Bonuses payable upon the successful completion of entrance probation. 

This position is a dayshift role with the possibility of working four (4), 10-hour shifts! 

About the Department of Juvenile Corrections Lewiston: The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has regionalized state services for juveniles committed to its custody, making it possible for most juveniles to remain close enough to their communities so parents and other key community members can take part in the juvenile's treatment. State juvenile correctional centers are located in Lewiston, Nampa, and St. Anthony and provide a full complement of services for youth who range from 10 to 20 years of age.

Examples of Duties:

  • Provide practical nursing care, health instruction, and charting and record keeping as it pertains to Licensed Practical Nursing described in the Nurse Practice Act, Idaho Code 54-1407. Some incumbents will be required to travel to assigned clinic locations and to provide patient transportation using state vehicles.
  • Administers prescribed medications and injections, observe for adverse reactions. 
  • Interviews Juveniles to obtain health information and instructs and counsels residents regarding basic health needs. 
  • Provides basic health education to juveniles and employees on health care issues and disease prevention. 
  • This position works in a 24/7 facility and may work rotating shifts. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Qualifications: Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the state of Idaho or state licensure as a Practical Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following compact states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin 
  • Willing to work in a juvenile correction facility.
  • Must meet federal PREA requirements.
